The SDAPHCC periodically hosts specialized certification courses based on demand.  The Medical Gas Certification Course has been a popular option offered in recent years.  If there is enough interest, the SDAPHCC will schedule a course.  Typically this class is held in January or February.  Please contact the SDAPHCC if you have a need for Medical Gas Certification (or any other specialized certification).

Each March, the SDAPHCC, in partnership with IAPMO, offers continuing education courses for plumbing contractors and journeymen.  Sixteen courses are scheduled across SD.  These courses have been approved by the South Dakota Plumbing Commission and fulfill the continuing education requirements for license renewal. Registration information for in-person classes is mailed to license holders in January.

After the in-person classes are held, an online class becomes available around mid-year.  In addition, 2 virtual classes have been added for 2024.

The SDAPHCC Educational Foundation strives to elevate the p-h-c industry by providing scholarships to young people pursuing a p-h-c career.  Each year, the Foundation seeks to award 2 scholarships.

All applicants must be a senior in high school or a freshman in college and must be sponsored by a member of the SDAPHCC.  Each year, the deadline for applications and supporting materials is December 31.

Each year, SDAPHCC hosts an Apprentice Competition in conjunction with the Annual Convention.

There are 2 divisions – Plumbing and HVAC

Apprentices take a written test prior to the convention.  The top 3 highest scores in each division, compete in a hands-on competition at convention.  The winner of each division then advances to the national competition at the national convention.

This event engages apprentices and allows them to showcase their knowledge and skill.  Registration for the contest occurs in November/December.
