CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE VIRTUAL COURSE
The SDAPHCC is excited to host a unique training for Customer Service Representatives. The class will be conducted virtually through six short sessions over the course of several weeks starting on September 11, 2024.

BACKFLOW TESTER TRAINING & CERTIFICATION
The SDAPHCC has partnered with IAPMO to provide this specialized training on October 21-25, 2024 in Sioux Falls, SD. IAPMO Backflow Prevention Institute provides education and training services to increase both private and professional awareness of potential hazards to the public drinking supply relating to backflow and cross-connections. The training and certifications classes are based on the requirements of the ASSE/ANSI Series 5000 Cross-Connection Control Professional Qualifications Standard.

MEDICAL GAS CERTIFICATION COURSE
The SDAPHCC periodically hosts specialized certification courses based on demand. The Medical Gas Certification Course has been a popular option offered in recent years. If there is enough interest, the SDAPHCC will schedule a course. Typically this class is held in January or February. Please contact the SDAPHCC if you have a need for Medical Gas Certification (or any other specialized certification).
CONTINUING EDUCATION
Each March, the SDAPHCC, in partnership with IAPMO, offers continuing education courses for plumbing contractors and journeymen. Sixteen courses are scheduled across SD. These courses have been approved by the South Dakota Plumbing Commission and fulfill the continuing education requirements for license renewal. Registration information for in-person classes is mailed to license holders in January.
After the in-person classes are held, an online class becomes available around mid-year. In addition, 2 virtual classes have been added for 2024.

SCHOLARSHIPS
The SDAPHCC Educational Foundation strives to elevate the p-h-c industry by providing scholarships to young people pursuing a p-h-c career. Each year, the Foundation seeks to award 2 scholarships.
All applicants must be a senior in high school or a freshman in college and must be sponsored by a member of the SDAPHCC. Each year, the deadline for applications and supporting materials is December 31.

APPRENTICE CONTEST
Each year, SDAPHCC hosts an Apprentice Competition in conjunction with the Annual Convention.
There are 2 divisions – Plumbing and HVAC
Apprentices take a written test prior to the convention. The top 3 highest scores in each division, compete in a hands-on competition at convention. The winner of each division then advances to the national competition at the national convention.
This event engages apprentices and allows them to showcase their knowledge and skill. Registration for the contest occurs in November/December.
ONLINE EDUCATION THROUGH DEVRY WORKS
PHCC members can participate in a full suite of DeVry University online education options at a partner group registration rate and with the potential to earn a degree. The DeVryWORKS class offerings cover some of today’s most important business topics, such as leadership, marketing, communications, business acumen, and customer service.
All of the modules are offered online, in either an instructor-supported or self-paced format, enabling members to participate at their own pace. Participants may elect to follow a course of learning that can lead to college credits with DeVry.
