JOURNEYMAN TEST REVIEW COURSE
SDAPHCC has partnered with IAPMO and PHCC-National Educational Foundation to provide a review course for individuals preparing to test for their journeyman’s license. This is an 8.5-hour online course that allows apprentices to work through the information at their own pace.

MEDICAL GAS CERTIFICATION COURSE
The SDAPHCC will be hosting a Medical Gas Certification Course on January 20-23, 2026 in Sioux Falls, SD. The course is currently sold out.

CONTINUING EDUCATION
Each March, the SDAPHCC, in partnership with IAPMO, offers continuing education courses for plumbing contractors and journeymen. Sixteen courses are scheduled across SD. These courses have been approved by the South Dakota Plumbing Commission and fulfill the continuing education requirements for license renewal. Registration information for in-person classes is mailed to license holders in January.

SCHOLARSHIPS
The SDAPHCC Educational Foundation strives to elevate the p-h-c industry by providing scholarships to young people pursuing a p-h-c career. Each year, the Foundation seeks to award 2 scholarships. All applicants must be a senior in high school or a freshman in college and must be sponsored by a member of the SDAPHCC. Each year, the deadline for applications and supporting materials is April 1. APPRENTICE CONTEST
Each year, SDAPHCC hosts an Apprentice Competition in conjunction with the Annual Convention.
There are 2 divisions – Plumbing and HVAC
All apprentices first compete in a written competition. The top three apprentices in each division will advance to the hands-on competition at the Annual SDAPHCC State Convention. The first-place winner in each division of the hands-on competition will win a trip to compete in the National PHCC Competition during CONNECT.
In an effort to make it easier for more apprentices to compete, the written test is administered at 4 locations throughout SD – Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Pierre, and Watertown. The written testing for the 2026 Competition was held on December 12, 2025 and the 2026 hands-on contestants have been selected.
