South Dakota PHCC

Position Opening- Executive Director, South Dakota Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Contractors Association. 

 

The South Dakota PHCC seeks an Executive Director to join its leadership team.  The SD PHCC is a non-profit, membership association based in Sioux Falls, SD.  Reports to a ten member Board of Directors.  Executive Director is responsible for management of the organization’s financial resources, budgets and membership services.  Additional responsibilities include design and oversight of a large continuing education program, planning and management of an annual convention and editing a monthly publication. Also manages an apprenticeship program and is the spokesperson for the organization. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  Experience in non-profit management that includes member services, all aspects of financial activities, event planning and the ability to undertake and manage multiple duties simultaneously. 

 

Preferred Education:  Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business or related fields but commensurate experience in management and leadership will be considered.

 

Salary and benefits negotiable.  Some in-state and out-of-state travel required.  All submissions are confidential.

                                                                     JOURNEYMAN PLUMBER

 

CLASS PURPOSE

To perform journeyman-level installation, maintenance and repair of domestic and industrial plumbing, and perform related work.

GENERAL INFORMATION

These positions involve the physical ability to lift and carry items weighing approximately 90 pounds, climb and work from ladders, bend and stoop. Must carry a valid drivers license and be ok’d by the insurance carriers to drive a company vehicle

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Plumbing Typical duties:

  • Installs, maintains and repairs domestic and industrial water supply and drain lines, repairs faucets, valves, fixtures and leaks in plumbing system, roof drains, water heaters, repairs circulation pumps, swimming pool filtration pumps, mixing valves, cuts and threads pipes, plumbs commercial kitchen facilities and specialty plumbing items such as dental stations, emergency eye-wash stations, steam rooms, and swimming pools systems, maintains stock of common repair items such as fitting, valves, washers, pipe and hose bibs, winterizes piping systems, completes work and material orders, cleans shop area, train others in plumbing techniques and reviews work for compliance with codes, assists maintenance and crafts staff performing their duties.

  • Troubleshoots malfunctions and make emergency and permanent repairs.  Responds to emergency call back. 

  • May have to prepare or work from sketches or plans and specifications and rough-in sheets in accord with the plumbing code or approved trade practices.
  • Makes time and material estimates
  • Does plumbing test on work in progress and completed work.
  • Does other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensure must be a licensed Journeyman Plumber in accordance with the State of Iowa.
  • Experience that provided considerable knowledge of: the tools, material and equipment, safety used in the plumbing trade: National code applicable to plumbing installation, maintenance and repair.
  • Some knowledge of supervisory practices.
  • Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Ability to read, write speak understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.

Experience: Dismantling, installing and repairing plumbing devices, interpreting building plans, blueprints and plumbing schematics, estimating time and material for plumbing jobs.

 

 

UTILITY WORKER PLUMBER

 

CLASS PURPOSE

Constructs, repairs, and services water or sewer lines within the guidelines of supervisory instructions and accepted work practices,

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

Operates light and heavy equipment and various hand tools in the maintenance and construction of water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Will be working outside in all different kinds of weather. Will be required to operate a backhoe. These positions involve the physical ability to lift and carry items weighing approximately 90 pounds, climb and work from ladders, bend and stoop. Must carry a valid drivers license and be ok’d by the insurance carriers to drive a company vehicle

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ability to operate backhoe, plow and/or trencher

  • Ability to provide basic service on equipment

  • Ability to load material

  • Performs site set-up and clean-up

  • Ability to clean vehicles, trailers, tools and equipment

  • Ability to transport equipment (if CDL driver)

  • Ability to follow simple instructions

  • Learn basic plumbing skills

  • Does other related duties as required.

Journeyman Plumber/Master Plumber
