Apprentice Contest – Written Test – Rapid City, Sioux Falls & Pierre
The South Dakota Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors would like to invite you to enter one or more apprentices in our Annual Apprentice Competition. Apprentices can compete in either the Plumbing or HVAC Division.
All apprentices will first compete in a written competition. The top three apprentices in each division will advance to the hands-on competition at the Annual SDAPHCC State Convention on February 27 at Grand Falls Casino near Larchwood, IA. The first-place winner in each division of the hands-on competition will win a trip to compete in the National PHCC Competition during CONNECT 2025 on October 27-30 in Grand Rapids, MI.
In an effort to make it easier for more apprentices to compete, the written test will be administered at 4 locations throughout SD. Testing will occur at 1pm on Friday, January 24, in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Pierre, and on January 21 in Watertown.
Written Competition Details
- Held at 1pm on January 24 in Rapid City, Sioux Falls, & Pierre, and on January 21 in Watertown.
- Rapid City Location: 3536 Eglin St (Midwestern Mechanical)
- Sioux Falls Location: 712 E 3rd St (Howe, Inc)
- Pierre Location: 1802 E Dakota Ave (Wheelhouse Plumbing)
- Watertown Location: 9 N Maple (Andor, Inc/Taecker Plumbing & Heating)
- Written Test Schedule
- 12:45 pm – Contestants Arrive and Check In
- 1:00 pm – Testing Starts (no exceptions or late starts)
- 3:00 pm – Testing Ends
- IMPORTANT NOTE: Contestants will need to provide a driver’s license or other valid picture ID at the time of testing.
- Tests will be graded at a later date and results will be issued within the next few weeks.
- In the case of a tie, the time that the test was turned in will be the tie breaker with the shortest test time as the winner.
