Through a federally funded grant, the SDAPHCC has been given the opportunity to offer eLearning apprenticeships to 15 individuals.
This is a four year program composed of two elements: On-The-Job Training and Education Instruction.
On-The-Job Training is supplied by the apprentice's employer. Apprentices are required to complete 8,000 hours.
The Educational Instruction consists of on-line courses paired with textbooks. Apprentices who take advantage of this offer will receive their first year of curriculum FREE at a value of nearly $1,000. (The apprentice or the employer will be responsible to fund the remaining 3 years of curriculum).
The National PHCC Education Foundation supplies and manages the eLearning instruction. All apprentices are registered with the Federal Bureau of Apprenticeship Training (BAT).
This grant has given the SDAPHCC an incredible opportunity to offer 1 year of FREE education to promising apprentices seeking a career in the p-h-c industry.
Suitable apprentices should:
- Not be currently enrolled in any other apprenticeship program
- Be employed full-time.
- Be responsible and able to work independently on the curriculum
- Be computer literate and have access to on-line content.
- Be willing to make a long-term commitment to a 4 year program
